Symphony No. 1 — Full Orchestra

$450.00

Instrumentation: Full symphony orchestra (3243 / 4331 / timp, perc, strings)

Duration: 45 minutes   |   Four movements   |   Professional/Advanced

Recorded: Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Navona Records, 2024

What's included: Full conductor's score + all orchestral parts (PDF)

Description: This symphony was written during a period of collective disorientation, and the first movement does not pretend otherwise. The opening gestures are anxious and searching, unable to settle into anything that holds. What follows across four movements is not a resolution of that anxiety so much as a sustained journey through it, with each movement carrying a distinct emotional logic that builds toward a finale that has earned what it finds.

The BBC described the arc as moving from "nervous uncertainty" through to something that makes it "hard to suppress a smile." Pizzicato wrote that Hoyer "has created a remarkable composition." Recorded in 2024 by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra for Navona Records.
